The Un-affirmed Core offers a fresh, careful and deeply compassionate look at the complex issues surrounding homosexuality. Author Bryan Shen provides clear explanations drawn from modern psychology, real-life experiences and traditional sexual ethics. This book reduces prejudice, fear and misunderstanding. It addresses the important people around those who struggle alone - afraid, confused and hidden. It equips them with the ability to provide support, from both a psychological-assistive approach as well as a spiritual-pastoral approach. Through detailed case stories, as well as input from leading therapists in the US, Asia and Europe, The Un-affirmed Core lays out an integrated understanding of the factors behind and around homosexuality. This understanding has helped countless readers, and continues to be refined through working with those who otherwise struggle in silence.
Bryan Shen is a registered professional counsellor who obtained his Masters in Social Science (Counselling) from the University of South Australia in 2010. He is also a registered Supervisor of Counsellors who conducts training and lectures to counsellors and professionals. He is sought after by many conservative-religious institutions in Asia to provide educational talks to remove misconceptions and prejudices.
