The portrait of the modern world' s most influential political philosopher that emerges in this book is very different from the granitic, sphinx-like image memorialised in public squares during the 20th century. After spending some desperately poor years in Britain, in the mid-1870s Marx started traveling again. Travels with Marx tells the stories of those travels, peregrinations, encounters, conversations, and reflections and by bringing readers closer to the man who was Karl Marx is also an invitation to revisit his philosophical ideas.
Marcello Musto is associate Professor of Political Theory at York University in Toronto. His main research interests include Karl Marx, socialist thought, the history of the labour movement, post-Hegelian philosophy, and contemporary European politics. His writings, translated into over twenty languages, seek to highlight the contemporary relevance of the Marxist theoretical tradition for pressing current issues. Patrick Camiller is a translator from Romanian, Spanish, German, French, and Italian. He has translated numerous works of history, philosophy, and political science. His most recent translation is of Joern Leonhard' s Pandora' s Box: A History of the First World War.
