Raised by her mother after her father' s early death, Erica was a gifted student and qualified as a secondary teacher, rising to become a Deputy Principal and a committed campaigner for cross-disciplinary education for all, but especially for young girls whose education was often neglected. She has argued for the inclusion of the humanities alongside STEM and skills training. A lifelong poet, Erica has published several books of poetry and educational essays.
