Les Beckman was born in 1955 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where he spent his early years. He spent his teenage years growing up in northern Queensland where he developed a love of travel. After he qualified as a teacher, he was posted to many towns around the state of Queensland. After retirement in 2013, he has travelled extensivelythroughout Australia and overseas with his wonderful wife Elizabeth. He shares his time between Brisbane and his cabin in St Marys, Tasmania.
