Ten Little Squirrels brainstorm a way to evade their natural foe until one of them sneezes. No need to get squirrely--practicing classic rhythm and rhyme while teaching children to count has never been more fun! Ten Little Squirrels by New York Times bestselling authors Bill Martin Jr and Michael Samson follows the "tail" of these furry friends as they determine what to do when a dog approaches their tree. Readers can enjoy the charming illustrations, count each of the colorful squirrels, and go nuts rereading to their hearts' content.
"The rollicking verses, similar in bounce to Martin' s famous Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? , keep the pages turning to the climactic 10th squirrel and his gigantic full-spread sneeze . . . the delightful colors and textures of the collaged illustrations will attract readers' eyes. "--Kirkus Reviews "This fun and nutty counting book imagined by the dynamic duo of Bill Martin Jr and Michael Sampson features bright and bushy illustrations by Nathalie Beauvois. Did squirrels help her paint this tale using their tails? Only Nathalie and the ten little squirrels will ever know. "--Ron Barrett, New York Times Bestselling Illustrator of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs; also known as Sam E. Squirrel, Editor-in-Chief of The Nutty News "Ten Little Squirrels is an absolutely delightful story with a tiny nutshell of worry. Bill Martin Jr and Michael Sampson use ordinal numbers masterfully for the placement of each squirrel as they test their bravery in a forest . . . The illustrations are very decoupage-like and seamlessly mesh with the words. I highly recommend Ten Little Squirrels for the story, the illustrations and especially the difficult lesson in ordinal numbers. "--Audrey Penn, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of The Kissing Hand "Tails up for Ten Little Squirrels! Inspiring art and rollicking rhyme will entertain as well as teach. I wouldn' t be at all surprised to see fans of this book grow up to become professional squirrel counters -- a career worth reading about. "--Judy Schachner, Award-Winning, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of the Skippyjon Jones series "This is a great book, bringing to new life a long-time collaboration of well-seasoned children' s book authors and new illustrative talent. It etches down to the essence of what every child experiences when encountering something new, this time in the rhyming phrases of ten squirrels: interest, fear, curiosity, uncertainty, fascination -- should I watch, should I run? Everyone can identify and have fun with this colorful tale of tails. And you can learn to count! The book also includes an educational section with fascinating facts about squirrels and questions to pique more interest in learning about these furry friends. "--Roy Freeman, Co-Author of One More Acorn with His Father Don Freeman, the International Bestselling Author of Corduroy
