David Stahel is the world' s leading authority on the first six months on the Eastern Front of World War II. He teaches European history at the University of New South Wales in Canberra, Australia. His previous books include Operation Barbarossa and Germany' s Defeat in the East (Cambridge University Press, 2009), Kiev 1941: Hitler' s Battle for Supremacy in the East (Cambridge University Press, 2012), and Operation Typhoon: Hitler' s March on Moscow, October 1941 (Cambridge University Press, 2013). His fellow historians have called Stahel' s work "remarkable" - "brilliant" - "impressive" - "refreshing" - "the best kind of revisionism" - "must read. " He lives in Australia. Craig Luther is a former Fulbright Scholar and a retired U. S. Air Force historian.
