Lemanatele Mark Kneubuhl grew up in both California and American Samoa - a blessing which came from his parents divorce. He counts among his greatest inspirations; his uncle, acclaimed television writer John Kneubuhl (Hawaii 5-0, Star Trek), his aunty, award-winning playwright Victoria Kneubuhl, and his wife, five children and their numerous grandchildren. Kneubuhl has worked as a newspaper editor, Samoan correspondent for Radio NZ International and Associated Press, and currently as a carpenter. He was given the title of Lemanatele in 1988.
