A frank, funny and tender new book from Christie Watson about the search for meaning in mid-lifeA frank, funny and inspiring new memoir from Christie Watson about the search for meaning in mid-lifeQuilt on Fire reframes mid-life with openness and honesty, and celebrates the messy magic of being a single woman in your forties. Christie has been searching for the meaning of love since her early twenties- when the bright glow of emotion she experienced with her boyfriend turned out to be her bedroom quilt that had caught fire. Now, at the age of 44, following what she thought was a spectacular breakdown (and that turned out to be the peri-menopause), she asks the question- what does love mean now? Christie takes us on a very funny, sometimes shocking and touchingly poignant journey- through peri-menopause and single parenting, via a world pandemic, to a place of change and acceptance that her younger self would never have believed. . .
I adore Christie Watson. I feel very seen. Christie Watson captures the chaos and uncertainty of midlife exactly. . . A hilarious romp at times, Quilt on Fire is also a moving and insightful exploration of a transformational inner journey -- Kathryn Mannix A rallying cry for all those confused by their forties, Watson captures midlife with typical fearlessness, humour and style. Her writers' eye never looks away from the truth but seeks only to illuminate it. -- Sarah Langford So timely. . . Quilt on Fire is like a supportive friend reaching out a hand, saying it will be okay -- Karen Angelico
