She has an easy life - but makes a living from pretending otherwise. She has a husband who hates the spotlight - but can' t step away. She has a million followers who adore her - but one who wants her to suffer. She hasn' t realised her family is in danger yet - but she will. People like Emmy Jackson. They always have. Especially online, where she is Instagram sensation Mamabare, famous for always telling the unvarnished truth about modern parenthood. But Emmy isn' t as honest as she' d like the fans to believe. She may think she has her followers fooled, but someone out there knows the truth and plans to make her pay. Because people like her have no idea what pain careless words can cause. Because people like her need to learn what it feels like to lose everything . . .
[I] inhaled People Like Her in a single sitting . . . Breathlessly fast, brilliantly original. Bravo, Ellery Lloyd! -- Clare Mackintosh, bestselling author of I Let You Go and After the End Social media has never been so dark or so compelling. A disturbing peek into the world of influencers and how it affects their families, People Like Her had me hooked right up to the jaw-dropping end -- Samantha Downing, bestselling author of My Lovely Wife and He Started It A clever, original and page-turning thriller with a compelling set of true-to-life characters. I was gripped from the start and then all the way to the unpredictable conclusion -- Jenny Quintana, bestselling author of The Missing Girl and Our Dark Secret Suspenseful, thought-provoking, clever, and I suspected everyone. The insights into human nature were spot-on, the characters felt true to life and I was genuinely gripped . . . A truly brilliant and a refreshingly original read -- Karen Hamilton, author of The Last Wife and The Perfect Girlfriend Excellent characterization turns up the tension in this addictive and absorbing psychological thriller. I was hooked from first page to last -- Olivia Kiernan, author of If Looks Could Kill The perfect contemporary thriller. A deliciously hideous protagonist, a smart two-person narrative, rooted in a scenario that is all too easily imaginable . . . Utterly impossible to put down. It felt like every chapter ended on a cliffhanger and my heart was in my mouth. I loved it -- Caroline Corcoran, author of The Baby Group Don' t read this book on the train - I missed my stop . . . On one level, People LikeHer is a thrilling, witty page-turner that makes you laugh out loud. But on another, it is a sharp dissection of a very modern way of life [and] will make you look at twenty-first-century life in a different way -- Holly Watt, author of To The Lions Absolutely loved [it] . . . Twisty and dark, like all great thrillers, but very, very funny -- Abbie Greaves, author of The Silent Treatment I loved it! I was actually holding my breath towards the end. Such a chillingly dark examination of what can happen if you filter the reality . . . through Instagram and pretend to be someone you' re not -- Nikki Smith, author of All In Her Head Sharp, knowing and all too believable, People Like Her is a gripping take on the murkiness of those who make social media their metier. By turns harrowing and caustic, this book demands you stay up late to finish it - and possibly delete your account afterwards -- Harriet Walker, author of The New Girl
