Walter Kappacher, born in 1938, is an Austrian novelist who has won many German language literary awards including the prestigious Georg Buchner Prize. He has written short stories and novels as well as radio and screenplays, and lives near Salzburg. Georg Bauer is a Vienna-based translator and editor. He is the 2021 recipient of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York Translation Prize for Palace of Flies. Michael P. Steinberg is professor of history, German studies and music at Brown University. He has served as president of the American Academy in Berlin and is the author of The Meaning of the Salzburg Festival and translator of Hermann Broch' s Hugo von Hofmannsthal and His Time.
