On August 7, 1970, a revolt by Black prisoners in a Marin County courthouse stunned the nation. Bettina Aptheker is Professor of Women' s Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is the author of Tapestries of Life: Women' s Work, Women' s Consciousness, and the Meaning of Daily Experience.
