After three fruitful decades of wordplay, Robert Eddison has created over 40,000 original one-liners. Here, in Volume Two of his aphorism series, he has pulled from his prolific canon of witticisms and maxims, 200 of his finest, most clever and witty aphorisms. Razor sharp, Robert Eddison is a master of wordplay. Mind Stretchers will have you gasping at his humour, nodding in agreement at his pearls of wisdom, smiling at his intellect and will definitely leave you wanting more. * Our working theory of Life never makes the final draft stage* Failure to square up to Life has us going around in circles* Only when captured is our imagination free to roam* It' s hard to feel real without illusion* To the creative, there is no greater tyrant than convention* Permanency often rests on change* Less is indeed more, but it takes longer* Bridges are to diplomacy what walls are to confrontation* Tradition can either block or facilitate change* Putting your foot down can give your child a leg up* First principles are too often applied as a last resort
Robert Eddison is a journalist, public speaker, playwright and world-class aphorist. After graduating from Cambridge in Modern & Medieval Languages and Law, his career was kick-started by a European scholarship, a university lectureship, a lecture tour of America and a major interview with the late Margaret Thatcher for the London Times. He has over 130,000 followers on TikTok, and his erudite, engaging and sometimes provocative videos will educate as well as delight. As a multilingual lover of language, he has coined around 40,000 original one-liners on 160 different topics, ranging from political correctness to cannibalism. His widely published maxims led to the founding of the Eddison Aphorism Prize by his old Cambridge college.
