Artist book / monograph. In the book are images of The Color Guide Series: a group of 280 works on paper, an installation called Hypersubjective, and large scale painting by leading Dutch painter and writer Michael Tedja.
Tedja has been active in the Dutch art scene for over 25 years. The Color Guide Series is based on his book The Holarium - Negeren Series which he assembled from 818 drawings. In the book, he asks "Why do we need a specific connection in order to see things as separate from one another? " By recycling and recirculating images, he exposes the mutability of visual meaning within the context of globalization. Tedja was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands (he currently resides in Amsterdam). He studied in Amsterdam at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Sandberg Institute. He has had solo exhibitions at the Cobra Museum for Modern Art, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Locust Projects in Miami, and the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam. He has also participated in group exhibitions in Amsterdam, Arnhem, Brussels, The United States, and throughout South Africa. Tedja frequently publishes his books; both art books and literary works, which are distributed and collected internationally including: MOMA, University of Cape Town, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Columbia University Libraries, Princeton University, Harvard University, Centre Pompidou, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, University of Amsterdam , Leiden University, University of Cape Town.
