Recycled Materials is firmly based on providing simple, illustrated, step-by-step methods and techniques for creating jewellery from recycled materials. This handbook covers the importance of using recycled/reused materials in terms of environmental impact, sustainability, creativity, necessity versus choice, and ideas of making the common valuable and precious through treatment and presentation. The variety of projects included in this title will teach readers how to make a necklace from tin, pendants from keys, use fabric for a cuff, and to use plastic, cardboard, cork and foam to make bangles, necklaces, earrings and brooches. Also included is an extensive list of scrapstores and suppliers of recycled materials, as well as information about how to find free or very cheap materials from other sustainable sources.
Aimed at the serious jewellery maker who wants to make seriously stylish, contemporary jewellery, this book is all about sustainability - recycling, re-using & looking after the environment. * Waterstones Craft Newsletter * The latest addition to A&C Black' s growing ' Jewelley Hnadbooks' series, this topical ' how to' guide features the work of internationally renowned jewellers providing inspiration for any budding jeweller! * Craftsman (March/April 2009) * I would recommend this book for the novice or more experienced jewellery maker; it will suit anyone and the resources are all around us. * Greener View (April 2009) * . . . will inspire the more experienced jeweller in new areas and challenge amateurs with new techniques. * Craftsman Magazine (November 2009) * MacDonald delivers a deliciously green alternative and the skills to succeed. * Frosting Magazine *
