John Townsend worked as a Secondary School teacher before becoming a writer of children' s books for all ages. Rory Walker trained at Falmouth College of Arts and Brighton university. He has worked as a freelance illustrator and designer on computer games, advertising campaigns, magazines and children' s books, for clients including the BBC, Aardman and Usborne.
