This book reveals the secrets of printmaking which is pushing the boundaries, including techniques such as photo emulsion, glass and paper, perspex and paint stripper, printing with sand and digital prints mounted on relief surfaces. This volume also considers the role of the moving image, encaustic (wax) techniques for printing, transferring, collaging and combining traditional prints with wax. As well as evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of these approaches, the author offers an insight into the experiences and concerns of contemporary artists displaying experimental printmaking objects and installations for exhibition. Illustrations of the work of more than 30 British and international artists give the reader practical examples and inspiration to explore for themselves the experimental aspects of printmaking.
'The large-scale work is inspirational and the 112 page book is informative.' www.karenplatt.co.uk (June 2009)
