Tyler Traister DNP, RN-BC, NE-BC, CNE, OCN, CHPN, CTN-A, NPD-BC, is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh and a clinical staff nurse for the UPMC Health Systems in Pittsburgh, PA. Tyler' s scholarly emphasis and practice focus on improving the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ people, and he is recognized as a clinical expert in LGBTQ health. He completed his doctoral studies at Carlow University, and his doctoral work on LGBTQ cultural competence has been both published and presented at numerous regional and national conferences. He aims to disrupt the gender binary and heteronormativity in health care and nursing. He has received several accolades for his diversity and inclusion efforts.
