In the past decades, great strides have been made to ensure that crimes against humanity and state-sponsored organized violence are not committed with impunity. Alongside states, large international organizations such as the United Nations and forums such as the International Criminal Court, ' de facto international prosecutors' have emerged to address these crimes. Melinda Rankin is Honorary Research Fellow at School of Political Science and International Studies at The University of Queensland, Australia. Prior to this, she was Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland, a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Global Constitutionalism at WZB Berlin and a Lecturer at The University of Sydney. She is the author of The Political Life of Mary Kaldor: Ideas and Action in International Relations (2017).
