Cricket - the Aussie Way! reboots the children' s sporting handbook, and reframes the concept for the modern Australian kid. Inspired by the classic title The Art of Cricket (1958), by Sir Donald Bradman, this contemporary guide will act as an introduction to the game for girls and boys with updated best-practice holistic coaching from ' hero' of the book, Justin Langer. As well as a focus on fundamental skills, terminology and strategy, in keeping with the values of the Bradman Foundation & Museum, Cricket - the Aussie Way! will place great importance on the spirit, heritage and culture of the game. The book will be inclusive of gender, race and ability; and entirely illustrated and visually engaging for the young audience, with appropriately concise text from Langer - the popular coach of the Australian' s Men' s Cricket Team, who brings profile, credibility and a unique voice. Research indicates that there are almost 1 million school-aged children participating in cricket, with up to 20% being girls, and we estimate that half of these would be in the target market of the primary school bracket (years 1-6).
Justin Langer AM is a former Australian Test cricketer, and current coach of the Australian men' s national team, having been appointed to the role in May 2018. Langer has written six books; his first was entitled From Outback to Outfield: A Revealing Diary of Life on the County Cricket Circuit (2001). His second, The Power of Passion (2002) is an autobiography released after his return from "rock bottom". He also released a book with Steve Harmison entitled Ashes Frontline: The Ashes War Diaries of Steve Harmison and Justin Langer about the 2006-07 Ashes series in Australia. Langer wrote Seeing the Sunrise (2008), which has been described as "a handbook for overcoming self-doubt, for revelling in success, for aiming high. It is about mastering physical and mental goals, enjoying victories and fighting adversity. " His most recent books are Keeping My Head: A Life in Cricket (2010) and Australia You Little* Beauty: Inside Test Crickets Dream Team (2010).
