Clearing Boundaries is the first ever coffee-table style book dedicated to women' s cricket, and the first literary update on the history of the women' s game in Australia for nearly 30 years. The project traces the strong lineage of females in cricket from the 19th century to the watershed 2020 T20 World Cup, told largely through the lens of the Australian Women' s Cricket Team. Celebrating generations of trailblazers across five distinguishable ' eras' - from foundation to professionalism - Clearing Boundaries curates a collection of short stories covering memorable tours, matches, innings, spells and moments. The highly pictorial book presents over 200 images; many were previously inaccessible to the public, but have been brought back to life by the Bradman Museum' s Holman Collection in conjunction with other private collections donated to the Museum. It also features the statistical records of every woman to represent the nation on the cricket field, and a foreword written by arguably Australia' s greatest female cricketer, Belinda Clark AO.
Fiona Bollen has worked as a writer and editor in the sports industry for more than a decade. An all-round sports lover, Bollen knew at a young age that sport writing was what she wanted to do, the perfect way to combine her love of sport with a love of the English language. She studied Sports Journalism at the University of Canberra and after a couple of years abroad she returned to Australia where she picked up her first sports job with News Corporation on the Australian Football Weekly A-League magazine. From there Bollen moved to the NRLs Big League magazine, where she was editor for the final two years of her six with the title, before moving to run the womens sport digital section of the Daily Telegraph, Swoop. During that time she toured England for the Australian Womens Cricket Teams World Cup campaign in 2017 and covered two WBBL seasons, as well as womens rugby league, rugby union, the Matildas and Super Netball. That started a new passion, as she was exposed to the under-appreciated but undeniable talents of Australias female athletes and teams. Bollen now freelances from her home in Lake Macquarie. Matt Bonser is a creative lead, designer and editorial consultant at Churchill Press. He was responsible for the curation, design and editing of The Doctors In: Memorable Moments at the WACA Ground (2017); and the book was complemented with a bespoke exhibition at the WACA Ground during the 2017/18 season. This highly successful project was followed by companion publication, The Doctor Declares: The End of an Era at the WACA Ground (2018). With a degree in Communication Design from RMIT University, Bonser is involved in a range of publications being produced in collaboration with the Bradman Foundation & Museum - working with the Museum curator & staff, independent authors and other contributors to bring the projects to commercial fruition.
