This exhibition catalogue on the pioneering, avant-garde Italian artist Alberto Burri (1915-1995), whose work famously blurred the boundaries of painting and relief sculpture, documents a comprehensive retrospective at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice. It aims to reconstruct the full trajectory of his career, and addresses the transformative ways that he turned material into art.
