A native Californian, Elizabeth Breck had read Harriet the Spy twenty times by the time she was 9. It was no surprise, then, when she grew up and went to work for a private investigator, amassing the 6000 hours of apprenticeship necessary to earn the right to take the state' s notoriously difficult private investigator' s examination. Passing with flying colors, she has been licensed for years, working mainly in the field of insurance investigations--making her the real life version of Sue Grafton' s Kinsey Milhone.
