There is a strong focus on the value of establishing a therapeutic relationship involving non-verbal media as a cornerstone, drawing upon current research and practice. Emphasis is placed on working with transference and counter-transference, being trauma-informed, and making use of effective supervision. Simon Hastilow has worked with offenders since 1995 in various settings including NHS secure settings and within various prisons. He currently works on the Sex Offender wing of a therapeutic community prison. Marian Liebmann has worked in art therapy with offenders, with women' s groups and community groups, and for 19 years in the Inner-City Support and Recovery Team (adult mental health), where she developed work on anger issues.
