Having already published three novels the author felt it was the moment to boldly enter a short story competition. The problem was he became obsessed with the idea that he might have his work rejected. Not considering the first tale to be acceptable enough, he then wrote another, and another' All fell far short of his expectations so he just kept on painfully penning with the artful aid of Katie Northover. After passing the half century literary-wise (there are over 52 stories in this book) he decided that he would employ extreme deviousness in his anecdotage and instead of a mile high pile of rejection slips covering his desk he would then risk receiving only one. He has apparently based this on the fact that some expert stated that the present time level of readers concentration span is minimal. He is hoping that as this book will fall into the requirements of that category his readers attention will somehow remain totally enthralled within its covers.
