Semi-retired writer Simon Bridger planned to devote his time to writing while travelling to Australia on a container ship. But his fellow travellers prove far more diverting, and the mysterious disappearance of the Chief Steward leads to Simon being placed in great danger in ‘Sea change’. The pull of an unsolved crime that permeates his sister’s village proves both irresistible and perilous in ‘Payback’, and a disputed inheritance boils over when Simon visits an old friend in ‘A country house affair’. This is the third in the Simon Bridger series following Mark Richards’ earlier books The Nocturnal Cyclist and other stories and As through a glass… and other stories. What the critics said about The Nocturnal Cyclist and other stories: “A good gift for travellers ... the writer has captured the essence of the laidback style of living, characteristic of the people of that area ... the characterisation is excellent and the writing taut.” Mary Cee, Wairarapa Times Age “These are good yarns ...” Des Bell, Northern Advocate
