Sisters Margery Fern and Jennifer Somervell's Tales From The Farm picture books are based on their childhood adventures growing up in the 1970s on a 50 hectare dairy farm in Southern Hawkes Bay. Old Truck and the Flood is their sixth title. Both are fulfilling a childhood dream writing picture books - Margery as an illustrator and Jennifer as a writer. Jennifer Somervell graduated B.Hort Sci, then gained a Diploma in Teaching (Sec). She taught horticulture for eight years, then learning skills and academic writing at Christchurch Polytechnic and Lincoln University. She lives with her husband in Oxford, Canterbury. Margery Fern graduated B Soc.Sc.in Geography and History (Hons). She trained as a counsellor and a teacher and taught at primary level for 20 years. She lives with her husband in Taranaki and has four adult children.
