This story is set in the far future, long after the race of man has departed from Earth for another time and place, taking with them all knowledge of their original home. Everything that was of Earth has become a long-forgotten memory. The mutated descendants of mankind are now facing the collapse of the known universe. At the same time two alien civilisations are battling for supremacy of a ruined world which potentially holds the key to their survival - or to their ultimate destruction. Adding to this intergalactic intrigue are the strange and scarcely-known, yet immensely powerful Sentinels, who have acquired semi-mythical status. It is not even known for certain whether they still exist beyond the legends of time, and their location is likewise unkown and the subject of much speculation. But there are some who believe they may one day return to either pass judgement on their creative planetary handiwork or save all life from extinction.
