This is the third volume of a trilogy detailing the everyday experiences of NZ school children. There are no celebrities but there are two Members of Parliament. The book covers State and Private schools, single sex schools, co-educational and a Maori immersion school. While some of the Maori sailed through the school system without any problems, some came up against prejudice and discrimination from both teachers and pupils. Kiwi School Days traverses all aspects of schooling: academic, sporting, religion, school buses and libraries, assemblies and prize-giving, uniforms, and social activities. Each interviewee has a brief after school profile.
On 22 September 2016 Charlotte Murray wrote in the Bay of Plenty Times, reviewing Volume One. 'This is lighthearted reading which brings school memories vividly to mind. However, the personal interviews which were set to a list of questions, have a sobering harshmess, especially from the boys who lavish memory of the cane and bullying. It is a great Kiwi book to gain a thorough account of education in NZ from a wide selection of schools, teachers (good, bad and ugly) and varied social societies.'
