Kids Knit is a stylish and aspirational book containing age and stage appropriate knitting techniques and patterns. The projects enable children to learn the basics of knitting and start creating simple items very quickly. Kids Knit is also interspersed with beautiful photography, knitting jokes and activities and attractive illustrations. The start of each level contains photographed step-by-step tutorials covering new skills to make learning straightforward. AUTHOR: Kerry Kimber always wanted to teach her children to knit, so she thought hard about how to do it in a way that would encourage and enthuse them from the start. She realised the potential to teach these skills more widely, and she began the Kids Knit programme, which after proving to be a rip-roaring success became Knitting For All, an educational organisation which teaches knitting to children, young people and adults in the UK and Ireland. She is based in Edinburgh. 360 photographs, 20 illustrations
"This is a great book if your child wants to learn to knit. It is also brilliant if you yourself want to learn as it simplifies the process and has fabulous step by step photographs and easy language with no ' jargon' . The projects are small, useful and fun to make. I loved the knitting rhyme. . . it gives the learner something to repeat while learning to knit and you are even given the chance to make up your own rhyme using key words. From casting on to casting off, everything is included in this bright colourful book. Kids Knit inspires, informs and educates about yarn, where it comes from, the history of knitting and there is a ' test' at the back so your child can see how much this book has taught them. Kids Knit is an amazing book and highly recommended. "--Post Card Review "The book is very aspirational containing age appropriate knitting techniques and patterns. It' s perfect for beginners and they can start learning the basics and be amazed at what they are suddenly able to make from these basics. One they' re ready they can move on to colour changes and complex shapes and textures. The book has beautiful photography and also includes attractive illustrations, knitting jokes and activities. There are step-by-step tutorials which make learning very straightforward. It really is a fabulous book and I believe even those that do not have a clue how to knit will soon be making amazing creations. "--Raise Bay Blog "Kids Knit is the perfect "introduction to the wonderful world of knitting. " It has all of the basic points of knitting. Kids Knit was definitely a kid friendly knitting book. I recommend this book to anyone aged 9 and up. "--Sweetly Made Just for You "There' s a wealth of photographs to provide further inspiration should you need it and the children shown with their creations look really proud of what they' ve made. With the shorter days and less time to be outside, this is the ideal Kids Knit time. "--Red Reading Hub "This superb guide is written in an accessible style that will appeal to kids - straightforward and packed with lots of tricks, tips and clear photographic examples of each stage. Kerry has been teaching her own children and many others how to knit for years so she knows what works and how to get kids hooked on knitting. With 20 projects to interest little hands and little attention spans, this book is sure to be a success on keeping your kids engaged whilst they pick up and learn the necessary skills to become confident knitters. So many kids start knitting but just get a bored of straight stitch scarfs and the repetition. These projects are fast and cute!"--Kids Crafts Craft Gossip
