For Christmas, 2020, my daughters Claire and Jaime gave me a present ' a weekly question requiring an essay in response ' a way to get a few stories down on paper. The clincher was that at the end of the year all the stories would be wrapped up into a book. Fifty-two stories in fifty-two weeks. Phew! Consistency is not really my thing. I have been known to start off with a hiss and a roar ' only to fade out into a whisper. So, the outcome of a book was not a given. Amazingly, at the end of 2021 the fifty-two stories were done and dusted. Hoorah!
