Bernard Holibar was born in Auckland and has lived in the Auckland district all of his life apart from visits to Australia, Fiji, Britain, Scotland, Ireland, Europe and Canada. He was educated at Auckland University gaining an M.A. with first class honours in The History and Literature of Music and was awarded the Fowlds Memorial Certificate. He has taught at various schools in the Auckland districtand has years of experience with amateur drama and operatic groups. He has had poetry and articles published in New Zealand and Australia and has written (and had performed) four musical shows, short stories and has two other novels in draft form. Bernard is a member of the New Zealand Society of Authors for some years, and was a Secretary of its Auckland Branch for 6 years, relinquishing the role at the end of 2007. He has been married for forty-four years and has two adult children and four grandchildren.
