Beneath The Southern Cross - Lafe, the son of a New England whaler, sets sail in 1800 for the South Pacific in search of whale oil and seal skins. After months of dangerous whale chases, Lafe, along with a small sealing party, is put ashore on New Zealand's south west coast. He is captured by a Maori tribe and despairs of returning home. His captor suggests a tattoo will raise his status. In the white-man's world, the tattoo will forever mark him as a savage. It is a warring time, tribe against tribe. Thirty years later, Lafe makes it home to America only to find that his cousins have spent his inheritance. The savage seeks utu.
