Culture is like an invisible force that shapes the way people think, feel, and behave. It influences every aspect of your company, every decision, interaction, interpretation, communication, perspective, person, everything, and it's wields more power than your, your leadership team, HR department, training programs, systems, reward programs, or anything else. When it comes to shaping attitudes and behaviours culture is the single most powerful force in your organisation. COVID-19 changed the rules. People started working in isolation, there was less direct supervision, the opportunities for spontaneous and casual interaction disappeared, and people were not able to get together to plan. Suddenly building a strong culture seemed an impossible task. And yet the fundamental principles of building a great culture stayed the same. The problem wasn't the changes forced on people by COVID-19, it was the fact that the approach most organisations were using wouldn't work or would be extremely hard to apply with a remote workforce. You need to get back to basics and use an approach that will work with a remote workforce, or in fact any workforce. You need to A.D.A.P.T. ADAPT Company Culture shares a simple approach that will build a great culture. It's based on strong principles that will almost guarantee success. All it takes is the ability for your leaders at all levels to interact, which you can do over online portals, and listen to your people. When you start doing that you can build a culture that will drive your organisation to new heights.
Since completing a Masters in Communication Management, Ross Judd has worked with organisations to build teams, leadership, and culture. As a keen observer of people and performance Ross started to notice the mediocre results being achieved through 'culture change' programs. Too often the program would alienate staff and create problems instead of creating a great experience. Ross wrote ADAPT to right the wrongs of the 'culture change' approach and advocate the benefits of engaging people and keeping the process as simple as possible. Ross and his team at Team Focus Internationalhave worked with companies like VISA, United Group, Optus, Oracle, and Victorias Department of Justice to improve teams, leadership, and culture. Ross has had the chance to build a great culture in prison officers, financial institutions, manufacturing plants, mines, wholesalers, and other companies. The work has taken Ross and his team throughout Australia and Asia as they work with organisations to build culture and leadership development initiatives.
