Beautifully illustrated by talented up-and-coming illustrator Patrick McDonald, winner of the Storylines Gavin Bishop Award for Picture Book Illustration. Flit longs to have a white Christmas with snowbirds, ice-skating and sleigh bells. You can't have these in the warm south so he travels far to the northern hemisphere where he hopes to have the perfect Christmas. It's not that easy and Flit learns to share with others. His Christmas holds all the magic he wished for, but it's still not right. Back home he delights in his southern hemisphere Christmas with family and friends.
Kyle Mewburn has written many award-winning books including the 2010 NZ Post Book of the Year for Old Huhu (illustrated by Rachel Driscoll), and the 2007 NZ Post Best Picture Book Award and the Children's Choice Award for Kiss! Patrick McDonald is a recent illustration graduate of Massey University, and he can't remember a time when he hasn't been interested in drawing or some aspect of design. Spending four years at university has definitely made illustration feel more like work to him but he's discovered that he really enjoys following a client's brief and trying to meet or exceed their expectations and his own. There isn't one mode of illustration that he prefers over any other but recently he has been working primarily on picture book illustration and he has always held a strong interest in narrative illustration.
